To the Entire Gewirtz Family,
My heart goes out to all of your family.  Just saw Barb at Steve's funeral.  How can that be?  We have to count our blessings for every day God gives us.  I am sure her parents and siblings were at those pearly gates to greet her.  God bless all of you with peace and comfort.

To Tom & to Barb's family -
Words cannot express our sorrow at the loss of Barb - she was one of the most special people we've ever known.  Working with her at Flint City Hall was a privilege - her work ethic and great personality made her so good to work with and be around!  She and I (Julie) went to lunch on occasion after she retired and went to work for the County.  We loved to meet up and walk down to Bailiwick for a good Greek lunch and conversation.  Her love for all of you, and for life, was unbounded and she made everyone around her feel good and cared for.  You couldn't help but wish you were a member of her very special family.  Her faith was also inspiring.  She was an incredible lady and will be sadly missed by all who knew her!  May God's peace surround you at this very difficult time.

Dear Tom and Barb's Family,

Our heartfelt condolences on Barb's passing. We were unaware of Barb's illness and it came as a great shock to us. What a lovely person she was. We shared the same birthdate, Feb. 18th, and we traded "Barbs" every year about our age. Godspeed Barbara and blessings to you all.

Couldn't believe it when I saw Barb on the Channel 5 obits.    We had just seen her at Steve's funeral and she looked so beautiful and healthy as she did anytime we saw her.  Didn't know her personally except that she was one of Ann & Arts daughters.  What a beautiful infectious smile she had for everyone.   So sorry for your loss and may God's peace and blessings be with you and your whole family.

Barb was a real amazing woman. From the time I was a kid in Chesaning and she entered the room, she greeted me with real warmth and genuine concern. I am so blessed to have seen Barb at Our Lady's 100th reunion in 2007. I always remember her as very athletic and someone who could probably whip you on the tennis court. Earthy Chris Evert vibe was Barb. Are my memories dead on here? Barb had the wit as well. A one liner, the quip, she was fun. She always brought the group together. It's always easy to see the hotshot and the social butterfly, but she had that sparkle that was natural and brought the group, her family, together.  She didn't have to have center stage, but was special because she let others play that role out while she supported them. A rare trait people overlook in this very ego centric world.

I always felt very very welcome into this family. They took an only child from Saginaw and blended me into the Chesaning culture with their neice/daughter Mona Peters.   The women Pat, Barb, Mary Jo, Deb, & Sandy immediately showered me with love and affection after being away and in another state for so long. They didn't forget me at all.

I remember Grandma G. and her wonderful lunches coming out of Our Lady as a kid.  She always had a bed to take a nap in, and let you come down refreshed, and watch a decent soap with her and whine about your tough day at grade school. I remember Barb showing up at all the weekend pool parties and just stopping in when I was over hanging out with Jen, Jane and Mona over at Mary Jo's. Barb was there and she was solid, calm and upbeat all at the same time. Pat was my point of reference, my strong role model that said do your own thing, hang tough and work hard to succeed.

All I can say is my Art Gewirtz family has lost too many members (Art, Grandma G., Bernie, Barb, Pat) and they were all very formative in my mind, interesting diverse people, and the women were quite strong, brilliant and down right cool. The 70's, 80's were a different time in Chesaning, MI, and the Art Gewirtz family were my family. I enjoyed the heck out of these Gewirtz members now in heaven, and they affected my life positively. God bless them all. I miss my fallen angel Gewirtz ladies.

My prayers and thoughts are with all of you.  Barb was such an important part of our lives at the Controller's Office not only as a co-worker but as a dear friend.  We loved hearing her many wonderful stories of family get-togethers, trips and time spent with the 'kiddies'.  Many times I said to Barb:  "I wish I was a member of your family."  How wonderful to have such a loving and supportive family.  I know you are all comforting one another and I hope you find a great deal of comfort from memories of happier times.  Barb will remain in our hearts.  Whenever I see a gloriously painted morning sky I'll think of Barb...and the times we would look at the sun rising from the conference room. Her light will always shine within our hearts.

I just happened to run across a few comments on Facebook about Barb's passing, what a shocker. It is hard to process. I so enjoyed being friends with her on FB. She was so quick to send a reply to my questions. I think she was the family organizer! I will always remember her gentle smile.
Your family has had to face the loss of so many loved ones. Hopefully, the prayers, condolences, and love from others will help to give you the strength to get through these difficult times once again.
