Schneider, Wilbur Edward of Chesaning, died Friday, January 3,2025, at Chesaning Comfort Care, surrounded by his family. He was 96 years of age.
Wilbur was born August 5th, 1928, in Chesaning to the late Harold and Caroline (Wendling) Schneider and was a lifelong resident of Chesaning. He was united in marriage to his loving wife, Virginia Flory for 74 years, married December 2nd , 1950. He served in the US Army. Upon returning home from the Korea War he worked at the Ford dealership as the Service Manager and farmed for over 65 years. He was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus #2943 and the Mid Michigan Old Gas Tractor Association. Wilbur was a master restorer and collector of antique Oliver tractors and loved spending time in his workshop. He also enjoyed fishing, traveling, square dancing and wintering in Florida for over 30 years.
Surviving are: wife, Virginia, children: Christine (Bill) Streng, John (Nancy) Schneider, Marjorie (Fred) Korf, Sharon (Terry) Newland, all of Chesaning; grandchildren: Lisa (Jason) Streng Jones, Nicole (Josh) Beougher, Kimberly (Mark) Simmons, Wilbur (Melissa) Schneider, Sarah (Brian) Talbot, Mary (Andy) Beningo, Charlene (Andy) Oginsky, Tosha (Curt) Ustishen, Steve (Meghan) Korf, Traci (Toby) Weston, Greg (Kayla) Newland, Lucas (Lyndsey) Newland; and 28 beloved great-grandchildren; siblings: Harold (Thelma) Schneider, Joan McDougall, Edward Schneider, Gloria Coonrod, Virginia Henige, Donald Schneider, Mary Jane Birchmeier, Eva (Roger) Birchmeier; sisters-in-law, Joan Schneider, Kay Schneider, Cathy Lienau; brother-in-law, Lavern Gross; many nieces and nephews. Wilbur was preceded in death by: siblings: Joseph, Eugene, Elmer, Frances Gross, Catherine Lienau, Lawrence, and Michael; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Laverne McDougall, Rose Schneider, Roland Coonrod, Kenneth Henige, Jane Schneider, Leroy Lienau and Victor Birchmeier.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Maple Grove. Fr. Thomas Held celebrant. Visitation will be held at Misiuk Funeral Home in Chesaning on Tuesday from 2-7 pm where a Rosary will be prayed by the Knights of Columbus at 7 pm. Visitation at the church will be on Wednesday from 10 am until time of mass at 11 am. Memorials may be made to Mid Michigan Old Gas Tractor Association, American Cancer or wishes of the family.
