Verlin Drope Obituary
DROPE, Verlin – Of Oakley passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc. He was 78 years of age.
Verlin was born in Dudley, Missouri on January 4, 1946, a son of the late Buell E. and Nona A. (Stacy) Drope. He was united in marriage to Betty J. Sanders in Rector, Arkansas on January 15, 1965. They had lived in Swartz Creek before moving to Brady Twp. in 2006.
Mr. Drope had worked as a Skilled Trades Welder Repairman at GM before retiring in 1996 with over 30 years of service. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening, but most of all, he loved his family and spending time with them.
Verlin is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Betty; son, Kevin Drope of Oakley; four grandchildren, Cameron, Hunter, Haylei, and Natalie; three sisters, Evelyn Hill of Florida, Farrel Franklin of Williams Lake, British Columbia, and Shirley (Adrian) Thompson of St. Louis, Missouri; a brother, Jerry (Karen) Drope of Kennett, Missouri; many nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Angela (Drope) McClelland; a grandson, Zachary Labombard; and three sisters, Alvera Hendrix, Lawanda Cook, and Verble Stephen.
