U. Duane Wenzlick Obituary
U. Duane Wenzlick of Maple Grove Twp. died Thursday, November 2, 2023. He was 88 years of age.
Duane was born in Owosso on July 8, 1935, the son of Urban A. and Edith M. (Holzhausen) Wenzlick. He was a longtime resident of Maple Grove Twp. and graduated from St. Michael Catholic High School. He was united in marriage to Eleanor L. Johnson on February 1, 1958, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Maple Grove.
Duane was self-employed and operated Wenzlick Masonry for over forty years. He was well known in the area for his expertise in brick, block, and stonework. Mr. Wenzlick was an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Maple Grove. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Christopher Council #2943 and Owosso Eagles Aerie 851. He enjoyed laying brick, farming, hunting, fishing, and dancing.
Duane is survived by his beloved wife of over 65 years, Eleanor; their children, Cynthia (James) Alexander of New Lothrop, Lisa (Harry) Wright of Florida, Darren (Amy) Wenzlick of New Lothrop, Kellie Wenzlick (Robert Bisgeier) of Flushing, and Dana (Larry) Atteberry of Kansas; 16 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Arnold Wenzlick (Ruth Todd) of New Lothrop; many nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Janice Stasa; and a son, Dennis Wenzlick.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 9, 2023, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Maple Grove. Fr. John Cotter will officiate. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at Misiuk Funeral Home in Chesaning and then Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of the Mass.
