TITHOF, Thomas E. – of Brant Twp. died Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the Sanilac Medical Care Facility in Sandusky. He was 73 years of age.
Thomas was born in Owosso on October 30, 1950, a son of Eugene and Mildred (Pacek) Tithof. Tom graduated from Chesaning Union High in the Class of 1969. Later that same year, he enlisted into the US Army and served during the Vietnam Era. He was Honorably Discharged in 1971, but not before being awarded a Purple Heart. He was united in marriage to the former Evonne M. Zayac on October 17, 1997, on top of a hill at their Brant Twp. property. They are both long time residents of Brant Twp.
Tom is a GM retiree having worked for 30 years as a janitor. He was a member of St. Peter Parish Catholic Church in Chesaning. He loved to hunt and fish, and he enjoyed making his own maple syrup and homemade smoked fish and venison jerky. He built a log cabin and grew a big garden, which he shared with everyone. Tom completely maintained his home, both inside and outside the house and his surrounding property, year-round, all by himself and without any outside assistance.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Evonne; children, Ryan (Christina) Tithof of Dewitt, Jerry (Shelly) Moffit of Chesaning, and Michael (Mark) Smith of New Lothrop; grandchildren, Andre, Paris, Ashley, Kyle, Jennifer, Matthew, Maryssa, and Katrina; great-grandchildren, Natalie, Hunter, Grayson, Nathan, Mason, Colton, Remington, Emberly, Adalin, Sydney, and Phelix; sister, Patricia (Tom) Walser of Oakley: brother, Douglas Tithof of Oakley; many nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Pete, Steve, and Mike Tithof; sister-in-law, Bobby Kay Tithof; a son, Christopher Moffit; and a great-granddaughter, Natalie.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at St. Peter Parish Catholic Church, 404 South Wood Street, Chesaning. Fr. Raj Bandaru will officiate. Visitation will be Monday at Misiuk Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Parish Rosary Service being held at 8:00 p.m. Visitation will begin Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass.
The burial of Tom’s cremated remains with US Army funeral honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2024. at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
