SEVCECH, Thomas W. – of Chesaning, died Thursday, November 25, 2021 at his residence. He was 74 years of age.
Tom was born May 27, 1947 in Detroit the son of William and Shirley (Goschka) Sevcech. He was a lifelong resident of Chesaning. Tom was united in marriage to Carol Sue Wille on August 17, 1968. Mr. Sevcech served in the US Army in Vietnam in 1967. Tom retired from Chevrolet Mfg. in 1995 with over 30 years seniority. He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and served on the Property Board of the church. He was also a member of the Conservation Club and the UAW. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, mowing his lawn, doing yardwork, and making decorative metal daylilies and other yard ornaments.
Surviving are: wife, Carol; daughter, Julie Bitterman of Chesaning; son, Chris (Tanya) Sevcech of New Lothrop; grandchildren: Rebecca Freas of Chesaning, Melissa Freas of Cadillac, Josie Bitterman (companion Keagan Coss) of Flushing, Julius Bitterman of Chesaning, Katlyn (Eric) Hobson of New Lothrop, Brianna Sevcech (companion Loren Smalley) of Charlotte, Devin Sevcech of New Lothrop; 1 great grandchild, Bentley Freas of Chesaning; sister, Kathy (Dan) Shuster of FL; a niece and a nephew. The family extends a special thank you to Maggie, Dawn and Chelsea. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Tonya Sevcech on September 15, 2000.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 133 Commercial St. in Chesaning, Pastor Paul Tessmer officiating. Burial to follow in Ziegler Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be held at the Misiuk Funeral Home in Chesaning on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 from 2-8 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Contribution in his memory may be made to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church or to First Hospice in Flint.
