Thelma E. Parshall passed away December 15, 2025, at the age of 99.
Thelma (Foess) Parshall was born October 17, 1926, in Owosso, MI, the daughter of Theodore and Emma (Leitow) Foess. She lived in the Chesaning area her entire life. Thelma graduated from Chesaning High School as 1 of 35 students in the class of 1944. On October 27, 1951, she married Millis (Bud) Parshall, Jr. having met while working at Peet Packing Co. They enjoyed 52 years together before Bud passed away on April 21, 2004. Thelma was a lifelong member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chesaning where she served as organist for 47 years. She belonged to the Women Serving Christ church organization where she served in various offices and was also on the Altar Guild. At various times Thelma worked in the office of Peet Packing Co., McDonald Dairy and the Valley Community Credit Union. She was a member of the Chesaning Area Historical Society and the Michigan Centennial Farm Association. Thelma and Bud enjoyed square dancing with the Sunday Sashays Square Dance Club. They took several cruises, traveled to Europe a few times, and spent time at their cabin in the Upper Peninsula. Her hobbies included gardening, both vegetables and flowers, china painting, canning, baking, sewing, and volunteering at the Chesaning Historical Society. Thelma loved watching the birds that came to her many feeders. As the home farm has celebrated 150 years in the same family, she had a significant interest in family genealogy. She enjoyed photographing family vacations , special occasions, and nature.
She is survived by three sons and their families. Millis III and Juliann Parshall and daughter Sarah of Hendersonville, NC; Theodore (Ted) and Barbara Parshall of Fuquay Varina, NC and their children Derek (Kaitlyn) Parshall and son Easton, Alysa (Michael) James and daughters Emelia and Olivette; and Donald and Carol Parshall of Omro, WI and their children Karen (Kenneth) Carley and children Olivia, Logan, Mason, and Eliana and Kelly Zeitlow (Bart Lauwers); sister-in-law Mary Mudar of Plymouth, MI; several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, infant twin brothers; three brothers-in-law, Joseph Mudar, David Parshall, and Robert Bednar; three sisters-in-law Delphine Bednar, Jeanette and Joanne Parshall; and daughter-in-law Sandi Jungwirth.
