Tabatha S. Kopenski Obituary
KOPENSKI, Tabatha S. – Of Byron Center, formerly New Lothrop, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Trillium Woods in Byron Center. She was 51 years of age.
Tabatha was born in Owosso on October 25, 1970, the daughter of Gary J. and Joan M. (Wendling) Gross. She graduated from New Lothrop High School and then later graduated in 1993 from Grand Valley State University with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Spectrum Hospital, and then later at Grand Valley Health Plan, both in Grand Rapids. She was united in marriage to Brian K. Kopenski on August 21, 1999.
Tabatha attended St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Maple Grove. She was a very caring, giving, and fun-loving person. Her smile would light up the room and her many lifelong friends will remember all the great times and late nights they enjoyed together. She loved spending time with her family, especially her two boys and recording those moments in the many scrapbooks she created. She also enjoyed many afternoons and evenings cheering on the M.S.U. Spartans.
Tabatha is survived by her sons, Zachary of Grand Rapids and Cody of New Lothrop; her parents, Gary and Joan Gross, and sister, Melissa (John) Neubecker, and two brothers, Gordon (Kelly Bishop) Gross and Chad (Kerrie) Gross, all of whom reside in New Lothrop; mother-in-law, Janet Raatz; father-in-law, Karl R. Kopenski; sister-in-law, Sherie Lynn Kopenski; brothers-in-law, Karl R. Kopenski, Jr. and Scott (Lori) Kopenski; several aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces, Kendra Gross and Riley Neubecker and nephews, Kenneth Eickholt, Alex Gross, and Justin Neubecker; and a large circle of dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 20 years, Brian, on July 8, 2020.
Her funeral service will be held 7 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Misiuk Funeral Home of Chesaning. Deacon Al Wright will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday from 12-7 p.m. at the funeral home until time of the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family for them to give to the ALS Foundation. You may light a memorial candle or share a memory at misiukfuneralhome.com.
