Steven E Rehmann passed peacefully in his home on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. He was born on October 19, 1948, to Babe and Don Rehmann. He graduated from Michigan State University in 1977 and practiced law in Chesaning for over 40 years until he lost his sight and had to retire.
Steven was a pilot, a sailor, a raconteur and was fiercely loyal to his small group of friends. He was a very private man as well as a tortured man. He suffered most of his life with depression and anxiety, unfortunately, it was never properly treated.
He was a son, a brother, a husband, a father, and a grandfather. But these are only labels and life is so much more complex … To some, he was a savior, to others a nightmare… And to many of us, he was both these things at any given time.
Dad, we pray you have peace now. The peace you were unable to find in this life. May you find it now. We love you dad.
GUNGA DIN by Rudyard Kipling
‘E’ll be squattin’ on the coals
Givin’ drink to poor damned souls,
An’ I’ll get a swig in hell from
Gunga Din!
Yes, Din! Din! Din!
You Lazarushian-leather
Gunga Din!
Though I’ve belted you and
Flayed you,
By the livin’ Gawd that made you,
You’re a better man than I am, Gunga Din!
We would like to invite anyone who would like to share a story and raise a glass to dad on his birthday Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Grandma and Grandpa Rehmann’s home, 823 South Front Street, Chesaning at 3:00 pm.
