Roy Dale Turpen of Chesaning. Michigan and formerly of Anderson, Indiana passed away Monday, March 9, 2020 at the Chesaning Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. His age was 90 years.
Roy was born in Bedford, Indiana on February 8, 1930, a son of the late Roy and Marie (Hubbard) Turpen. He lived in Bedford as a child. Roy was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Scott on December 16, 1949. He resided in Chesaning the past nine years.
Mr. Turpen worked as an accountant for GM, retiring from EDS in 1992. He was a former member of the Countryside Presbyterian Church in Saginaw and the Good Sam’s Club. Roy was also a member of the American Patriot Lodge #750 and the Kiwanis. He enjoyed camping and fishing and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by: his daughter Deborah (John) Whittier of Chesaning, MI; son, Michael (Kaye) Turpen of Solsberry, IN; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Polly Turpen and Gloria Elliot; brother-in-law, Donnie (Connie) Scott; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara; a daughter, Denise Bentley; and two brothers, Robert Turpen and William Turpen.
A committal service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2020 at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery, 6805 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Anderson, IN with burial to follow at the cemetery. Pastor Gary Klinger will officiate. Visitation will be at the cemetery from 1:30 p.m. Friday until time of the committal service.
