Rose Ann Reetz was called to the great Bingo hall in the sky on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at the age of 76. She would have joked that her number was finally called!
Born July 14, 1947, a daughter of the late John and Maxine Pogoreski, Rose graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1965. On July 11, 1970, she married Edward Reetz and they would have been married 53 years this year. Rose was very proud of their three daughters, Lisa Reetz of Montrose, Lori (Dave) Scherzer of Perry, and Teri (Brian) Gross of Oakley.
In the early 1980s, Rose developed and ran a Bingo program in support of Albee Elementary School, which she was commended for her commitment, leadership, and caring she had for others. These traits she instilled in her daughters as well. Rose worked at El Acapulco Tamales in Burt, where she was a dedicated employee for ten years. She enjoyed going to the Bingo, casino, playing cards, cooking for her family and going on Mother’s Day road trips.
She was known by Rosie, Moomy, and Emma, but Nana was the most fitting title. Nothing brought more joy in her heart than being Nana to grandchildren, David Scherzer, Daniel (Kendra) Scherzer, Taylor (TJ) Sporcic, and Andrew Gross as well as great-granddaughter, Tallulah Sporcic. Nana’s eyes sparkled throughout all the moments she was able to share in their lives and she was grateful for all of them.
In addition to her loving husband, daughters, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter, Rose is also survived by her brothers, Chet (Lori) Pogoreski and John (April) Pogoreski, and sister, Kathy (Cliff) Nanney. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Maxine Pogoreski, and a sister, Mary Klann. The family would like to thank DaVita Comare, Bridgeport; ProMedica Hospice; Joan at Friends Who Care; Rose’s sisters-in-law, Judy Meyer and Donna Sutto; and many friends, neighbors, and family for their love and support.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the Burt Baptist Church, 1200 West Burt Road, Montrose. Pastor Jerry Larkin will officiate. The family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a service at 1:00 p.m. and lunch to follow.
Contributions in Rose’s memory may be made to the Burt Baptist Church, who have been Rose and Ed’s neighbor and friend throughout the years, at 1200 West Burt Road, Montrose, MI 48457. You may light a memorial candle or share a memory at misiukfuneralhome.com.
