Richard D. Nelson, age 87, formerly of New Lothrop, passed away in Green Valley, Arizona on April 17, 2019. Dick was born April 14, 1932, in Flint, Michigan. He married his wife, Madelyn, on August 6, 1960, and she survives him. Dick was a proud Marine and served in the Korean War. He worked in the RV business for 20 years, and loved to fish, golf, and spend time with his family.
Dick was a loving husband, and proud father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 58½ years, Madelyn; daughter, Denise (Ed) Wenzlick of New Lothrop, son, Tim (Mary) Nelson of Fenton; grandchildren, Krista (Jason) Chamberlain, Kerie (Dennis) Hughes, Eric (Kait) Wenzlick, Kelly (Kevin) Knieper, Lance (Jill) Nelson and Alan Nelson; great-grandchildren, Cayden and Kellen Chamberlain, Matthew, Alex and Brayden Hughes, Alivia Wenzlick, Bryce and Brady Knieper; and several nieces and nephews. Dick was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Donald, Milton, Clayton; and sister, Lorraine.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in New Lothrop on Saturday, May 11, 2019. The visitation will be from 10 am Saturday until time of his memorial service at 11 am. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in New Lothrop. Graveside Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 212.
