Richard Charles “Dick” Hines, age 87, formerly of New Haven Twp., passed this life at his son’s home in Hayden, Colorado and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. He was born on March 25, 1934, to Louis and Cora (Shmidt) Hines of Ovid Township. In March of 1954 Dick served in the Medical Company 34th Infantry Regiment in Korea as a Medical Aidman. He married Virginia Lycka at the Methodist Church in Chesaning on September 7, 1957. They were married for 54 years until her passing in 2011. Dick was employed at Midland Ross in Owosso assembling air brakes for semis until the plant’s closing.
Dick enjoyed boating in AuGres, playing cards, especially with his Euchre buddies, playing pool in Oakley, fishing and making homemade wine with the neighbors. Dick and Ginny loved their annual trips to Colorado each summer to visit with their children and four grandchildren.
Surviving are his children, Rick (Sheila) Hines of Hayden CO., Sandy (Mike) Peters of Ft. Collins CO.; grandchildren, Chuck and Josh Hines of Norco CA, Jennifer (Caleb) Jennings of Cheyenne WY, Bryan (Alexis Puccini) Peters of Denver CO.; sister, Helen Traugott of Arizona; sister-in law and brothers-in law, Marion (Bob) Weigold of Chesaning, Frank Lycka of Chesaning and Richard (Dorla) Lycka of Florida; many nieces, nephews and special Parshallburg/Oakley area friends & neighbors. He was pre-deceased by his parents, wife and six siblings: Walter, Loretta, Mary, Margaret, Edward and Janet.
The family was grateful for hospice care and special caregiver, niece Cindy (Pirochta) Tikkanen of Chesaning.
Cremation has taken place with burial at a future date at the West Haven Cemetery, New Haven Township. A Michigan gathering of family and friends will then be held.
