McDougall, Richard M. – of Chesaning, died Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at his home. He was 96 years of age.
Richard was born in Saginaw on March 20, 1929, a son of the late Floyd and Mildred Demott and lived most of his life in Chesaning. He was united in marriage to Arlene Gross on August 19, 1950. They were married for 74 years before her death on December 31, 2024. Richard had worked at Dow Corning, retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Parish and was a member of the Knight of Columbus. He was considered a Jack of all trades and enjoyed mowing the lawn and building houses.
Surviving are his children and their spouses, Richard K. McDougall (Loretta McLaughlin) of Chesaning, Deb (Don) Hafner of St. Charles, Diane (David) LaVigne of Traverse City, Cherrie (Doug) Giesken of Prudenville, Sandy (Dave) Kunik of St. Charles, Jeff (Ryann) McDougall of Chesaning, and Kelly (Lisa) McDougall of Interlochen; 19 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his five brothers and sisters, and a daughter-in-law, Becky McDougall.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Noon Friday, October 17, 2025, at St. Peter Catholic Parish with Fr. Thai Nguyen officiating the Mass. There will be visitation at the church on Friday from 10 am until time of Mass. Contributions in his memory may be made to A & D Hospice or the charity of one’s choice.
