Raymond W. Albert Obituary

Raymond W. Albert of Chesaning passed away Saturday morning, December 11, 2021 at Hospice House of Shiawassee County.
 
Ray was born in Sewickley, Pennsylvania on December 28, 1934, the son of the late Kenneth W. and Anna May (Bicehouse) Albert.  Ray was a US Army Veteran, having proudly served from 1954-1956.  He was united in marriage to Julia Bowser on February 12, 1956.
 
After graduating from Penn State University, he worked for Penn State as an Extension Agent in Washington County, PA then, he worked for the U.S. Agriculture Department in  Crawford County, PA.  Later in life, he worked for Equitable Life in their Farm Mortgage Department as a Rural Appraiser.  He appraised and loaned money to owners of large tracts of rural land in Michigan and Ohio.  He appraised land for large farms, timber tracts, orchards, vineyards, and land developed for malls.  He also worked for Farm Credit Services and later owned his own appraisal company.
 
He participated in a variety of church boards and Chesaning Twp. Boards.  He held an office in the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers.
 
For over 20 years, Ray dedicated his life as a member of the Saginaw County Mental Health Authority.  He was a member of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) and was President of the Michigan NAMI in the Tri-County Consortium of Midland, Saginaw, and Bay Counties.  He was President of Saginaw County in the Tri-County Consortium for families dealing with a loved one with a mental illness.
 
Ray is survived by his wife, Judy, of 65 years; Their children, Marilyn (Stephen) Smith of Livonia, Deborah (Rev. Brian) Reinhardt of Sebewaing, and Brian Albert of Saginaw; three grandchildren, Stephanie Reinhardt, Dr. Jennifer (Dr. David) White, and Michael Smith; a sister, Janet (Kenneth) Mears of Ohio; and nine nieces and nephews.
 
A private graveside service will be held in the Spring of 2022.  Charitable donations given in memory of Ray may be given to the Hospice House of Shiawassee County, 2005 Copas Road, Owosso, MI 48867.
