Patricia J. "Pat" Reiber Obituary

REIBER, Patricia J., (Pat) – previously of Chesaning MI, died Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Graceland at Garden Ridge Assisted Living in Garden Ridge Texas. She was 94 years of age.

Fr. Andrzel Boroch will celebrate her Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at St. Peter Parish Catholic Church, 404 South Wood Street, Chesaning.  Visitation will be that Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Mass.  Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Chesaning.

Pat was born August 16, 1929, in Owosso Michigan to the late Edward J. and Rose E. (Nemechek) Koterba. She graduated from Owosso High School in 1947. She obtained her associate’s degree in the mid 1980’s from Delta College after raising her ten children and while the youngest was also going to college.

Pat met her husband of 54 years, Edward L. Reiber, on April 18, 1948, at Edgewood Gardens Dance Hall in Corunna. They were married the following year on October 1, 1949, at St. Joseph Church in Owosso.

Pat was active at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, St. Peter Parish of Chesaning. She participated in the bible study group, served as a Eucharistic minister, and co-led the grief recovery group for several years. After moving to Texas to live with her daughter, she continued to support the parish and keep informed of parish activities from afar.

Pat was an accomplished seamstress, providing her children with original custom clothing throughout their school years.  She was also known for her cozy knitted slippers, one-of-a-kind quilts, and custom purses.

She took great pride in her gardens. Her vegetable garden was extensive; providing her family with fresh farm grown produce throughout the year. After her children were grown, her flower gardens became her passion.

Pat never turned down the opportunity to visit her children when they lived abroad. She traveled throughout Europe visiting Finland and England; and after Ed retired, they toured Germany, Italy, France, and Switzerland. In later years, they expanded their travels to include annual visits to family and friends throughout the United States and Canada.

When she moved into Graceland in 2023, she was asked if there was something she always wanted to do or do again. Her response was “I did it already”.

She is survived by her children, Diane Lange of Chicago IL, Larry (Elaine) Reiber of Chesaning MI, Michelle (Brian) Bennett of Garden Ridge TX, Joanna Reiber of Idaho Falls ID, Rosemary Reiber of Chesaning MI, Yvonne (Chuck) Palmer of Walla Walla WA, Joe (Lynn) Reiber of Chesaning MI, and Annette (David) Miller of Gilbert AZ;  23 grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Patrick (Kate) Lange, Casey (Carly) Lange, Brian (Sarah) Reiber, Brooke (Jaymes) Nowicki, Amy (Dusty) Hall, David (Kathryn) Bennett, Amanda Bennett, Ricardo Rivera, Stephanie Bennett, Daniel Phillips, Michael Phillips, Tarrah Reiber, Kyle Elkins, Colleen Gibbons, Brianna Reiber, Joseph Jr. (Jess) Reiber, Jenny (Brandon) Weil, Grant (Halley) Miller, Amber Miller, Sarah Symons, Kim Symons, David Symons, and Kyle Ricklefs; twelve great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, Lilly,  Ella, Addison, Arlo, Jackson, Amelia, Branson, Taylor, Emily, Adrianna, Logan, and Dreykin, and another arriving soon; her sister, Marilyn (Jim) Wilson; brother, Peter Koterba; and sister-in-law, Audrey Koterba.  She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Peter J.
