Mitchell (Mitch) John Coleman unexpectedly passed away at his home in Seattle, WA on May 25, 2025. Mitch was born to Robert Coleman and Eleanor (Gewirtz) Coleman on April 25, 1962, in Owosso, MI. In his younger years Mitch grew up in Chesaning, MI around lots of family and friends until he graduated from high school in 1980.
After graduation, he married Carla Gregory and worked at the local sawmill in Saint Charles, MI. They were later divorced. In 1987 he moved to Grand Rapids, MI and worked for Advanced Packaging for several years. He then married Amy Rose Gasper and they were later divorced. He then migrated to the Pacific Northwest, settling in Seattle WA.
While in Seattle, he worked for Alki Lumber and worked in Alaska on fishing boats in the Bering Sea and the Gulf of Alaska. Prior to his death he worked at Harborview Hospital in Environmental Services for the last 10 years. He was a highly respected and beloved member of the hospital team. He enjoyed being with his siblings and their families and was an important part of their family life. He became an avid painter of rocks, pottery and furniture with colorful designs that were treasured by everyone.
Mitch had a great love for outdoors, music, and simplicity. He was adventurous with a very peaceful soul. His door was always open, and he shared peace with everyone he encountered. He enjoyed spending time with his brother Chris, going to concerts, and watching Chris’s dogs.
Mitchell was proceeded in death by his parents Robert and Eleanor (Gewirtz) Coleman. He is survived by his children, Erica (David) Buche, Caledonia MI, Issac Coleman, Marquette MI, Maggie (David) Slusser, Grand Rapids MI; his grandchildren, Haleigh, Ella, Dylan, Monroe, Jacob, Cyrus, Kyra and his great-grandson Max; siblings Paul (Debra) Coleman, Charmaine (Leopoldo) Seguel, Chris (Kim) Coleman, Cal Coleman, and Heidi Coleman.
Mitchell was a generous and loving soul and will be missed by his many friends and family.
