COLLINS, Michael J. Sr. – of Chesaning, died Friday November 13, 2020 at Memorial Healthcare in Owosso. He was 82 years of age.
Michael was born November 10, 1938 in Detroit to the late John and Florence (DuQuette) Collins. He was a resident of Chesaning since 1993 coming from Detroit. He was united in marriage to Judith Lloyd February 1958. She preceded him in death on July 2, 2015. Mr. Collins served in the US Marines from 1955-1956. He retired from the State of Michigan in 1998. He had attended Oakley Community Church. Mike enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, Sudoku and working in his garage.
He is survived by his children, Michael (Sandy) Collins Jr of Mascoutah, IL, LuAnn Maxwell of Peru, IN, Tina Collins (Steve Wilson) of Rives Junction, MI, Barbara (Shane) Beardslee of Tampa, FL, Jason (Megan) Collins of Newport News, VA, and Melissa Garcia of Adrian, MI; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Diane.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the Intensive Care Unit staff at Memorial Healthcare for their care and compassion during Michael’s time there. You cared for him like family and we are forever grateful.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. You may light a memorial candle or share a memory at misiukfuneralhome.com.
