BECKMAN, Michael C. – of Chesaning died Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Chesaning Comfort Care, surrounded in the love of his family. He was 83 years of age.
Michael was born in Owosso on July 20, 1941, a son of the late Alfred and Ann (Lane) Beckman. Mike was a lifetime resident of Chesaning and graduated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help High School in the Class of 1959. He was united in marriage to Joyce M. Weisenberger on November 27, 1965, in Maple Grove with Fr. Wolf as the Celebrant.
Mr. Beckman had worked from 1960-1977 for Modern Floor and installed carpeting and linoleum. Later in 1977, Mike changed jobs and worked at Farmer Peet for seven years. In 1985, he switched again and worked in the GM factory. He retired from GM in 2002. Mike honorably served with the MI Army National Guard. In July of 1967, he was called to active duty by Executive Order of the President to serve during the rioting in Detroit.
Mike was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and a current member of St. Peter Parish Catholic Church. He was a member of the Chesaning Conservation Club.
In his free time, he loved to play golf. He enjoyed playing baseball and coaching, especially when his boys were members of Little League teams. When not playing sports, Mike and Joyce loved their time together and riding their pedal bikes around Chesaning.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of over 59 years, Joyce; their four sons, Larry (Anna) Beckman of North Carolina, Dean (Angela) Beckman of Highland, Tony (Lindy) Beckman of Chesaning, and Ryan Beckman of Chesaning; eight grandchildren, Robin (Jake) Crantas, Makaela (Reid) Thompson, Spencer Beckman (fiancée Brooklyn Keyes), Taryn Beckman, Drew Beckman, Avery Beckman, Tia Beckman, and Gabriel Beckman; two great-grandsons, Cass and Colby Crantas; his siblings, Chris (Patty) Beckman, Phil (Carol) Beckman, Char (Paul) Kemppainen, Mary Dowd, and Don (Belinda) Beckman; a sister-in-law, Lucy Beckman; nieces and nephews; and other loving family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jack (Norma) Beckman and Tom Beckman; and a daughter-in-law, Melissa Beckman.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2025, at St. Peter Parish Catholic Church in Chesaning with Fr. Andrzej Boroch officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of the Mass. Contributions received by the family will be directed to pancreatic cancer research and hospice care in Mike’s memory.
