Michael Poag Obituary

Poag, Mike 11/10/1961- 03/29/2018 Oakley, MI (Formerly of Burt) Michael Thomas Poag, 56, passed away Thursday at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw surrounded by his wife and daughters. Mike was born in Saginaw on November 10th 1961. He grew up in Burt, Michigan and attended Chesaning Union High School, graduating in 1980. He met his wife Kimberly (Oliver) in 1986, and they were married in 1987. Together they built a house and a life in Oakley Michigan. He spent most of his working career driving Semi trucks for Davis Cartage of Corunna and M&M Restaurant Supply of Saint Johns. For 22 years of service, Mike was a member of the United Financial Credit Union Board. Mike was a member of the Chesaning Trinity United Methodist Church for many years. He was a NASCAR fan and rarely missed a race on Sunday. He was a man who wore many hats; his hobbies included fixing things, building things, spending time with his grandson, and coaching his daughters.  During his retirement he enjoyed experimenting with growing hops and riding his motorcycle with friends and family. He loved to  drive anything from an 18 Wheeler to a snowmobile, anywhere without a map. He was preceded in death by: his parents Paul Leroy and Lydia Ann (Diffin) Poag; his brothers: Paul Allen Poag and William Leroy Poag; and his sister Lori Ellen Karpuk. He is survived by: wife Kimberly Poag; daughters: Tammy (Dominick) Laffella, Allyson, Jillyan and Lydia Poag; granddaughters: Deena and Kayla; grandson Keegan; and many beloved family and friends. A visitation with family will be held at Misiuk Funeral Home in Chesaning from 4-8 p.m. Easter Sunday, 04/01/2018. The Funeral will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Chesaning on Monday 04/02/2018 at 11 a.m. Visitors are welcome before the service at 10 a.m. He was a great man. Everyone who met him loved him. He was a selfless person who would do anything to help anyone.
