Melissa Ann Beckman of Chesaning, formerly of Marquette, died Monday, April 6, 2020 at Union Court of Chesaning. She was 31 years of age.
Melissa was born January 30, 1989 in Southfield, MI to Richard and Janet (Johnson) Curtis. She was a graduate of Calumet High School, earned her teaching degree from Northern Michigan University and was working on her Masters Degree also through Northern. Melissa was united in marriage to Ryan Beckman on July 25, 2015 in Calumet. She taught English and Social Studies at Calumet High School then at Marquette Senior High School. She had been a member of First Apostolic Lutheran Church in Ishpeming and Calumet. Melissa enjoyed running, having run in 4 marathons. She also enjoyed reading, hanging out with family and friends and going to the beach.
Surviving are husband, Ryan; son, Gabriel; parents, Richard and Janet Curtis of Laurium, MI; siblings, Rick (Katie) Curtis of Escanaba, Dave Curtis of Bismarck, ND, Mark Curtis of Fowlerville, MI, Emily (Michael) Massie of Atlantic Mine, MI, William (Stephanie) Curtis of Holland, MI, Joe Curtis (fiancé Hannah) of Hancock, MI; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joyce and Michael Beckman of Chesaning; nieces, nephews and many other relative and friends.
Private graveside services at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Chesaning have been held. Public memorial services will be held at a later date. Contributions in her memory may be made to the family. You may light a memorial candle or share a memory at misiukfuneralhome.com.
