MaryEllen (Jones) Danek

MaryEllen Danek of New Haven Twp., age 96, passed away Friday, July 12, 2019, at Chesaning Comfort Care.  She was born in Brady Twp. on March 28, 1923, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Stickel) Jones.  She was a resident of New Haven Twp. for over 73 years.  MaryEllen was a graduate of Owosso High School.  She was united in marriage to Anton J. “Tony” Danek in 1946.  He preceded her in death on May 2, 2012.

Mrs. Danek worked for Chesaning Union Schools as a High School Secretary for 14 years.  She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Chesaning.  She loved to sing and was a former member of the Sweet Adelines.  She was an avid reader, a huge Detroit Tiger fan, and enjoyed crossword puzzles.  MaryEllen was a former avid golfer at Twin Brooks Golf Course in Chesaning and played on several leagues.

Those left to mourn her death include her daughter and son in law, Janis and Tim Mead of  Laingsburg;  daughter-in-law, Diane Danek of Canton; son-in-law, Jan and Cheryl Peters of Manitou Beach; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends.

Those who have also passed away include her son, Tom Danek (2008);  daughter, Patricia Peters (2009), a brother; and two sisters.

Rev. Timothy Woycik will officiate at her funeral service at 11 am Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 1629 W. Brady Road (M-57) Chesaning.  Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Monday at Misiuk Funeral Home of Chesaning and from 10 am Tuesday at the church until time of the funeral service.  Cremation will follow the service with burial later at West Haven Cemetery.
