Marvin Sulen Obituary

SULEN, Marvin L. – of Chesaning, died Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Medilodge of Cass City. He was 79 years of age.

Marvin was born December 8, 1941 in Chesaning to the late Andrew and Hilda (Bitterman) Sulen and was a lifelong resident of Chesaning. Marvin served in the US Army National Guards. He was united in marriage to Terri Wise on August 8, 1988. Marvin was a barber with his father for over 13 years then worked for the Saginaw County Road Commission where he retired in 2003. He was a member of St. Peter Parish.

He loved his new truck that he just recently purchased and would tell you all about it if you let him.

When he retired, he had a long list of projects to do around the house which he got to check off one by one.  In between projects he would head to Texas to the "The Texans" and work on projects there for weeks at a time.  His day did not start until he took his daily walk down the lane, which he would take every day no matter what the weather. He was happiest when he was working in his garden that he took great pride in every year.   He loved traveling around Michigan with family and the dog camping in the RV, sitting around the campfire making colored flames.  He enjoyed being in the kitchen cooking and EATING.  "That'll be alright" was usually the answer you could count on when you asked him something.

He was very self-conscious of how he looked, particularly his hair, which he would cut himself.  He liked to be clean shaven and was insistent  to be shaved while in the hospital.   He has been a barber for many years and loved talking with customers, enjoyed when running into them, and catching up after changing careers.  But most of all, he loved his Dolly (Terri), and would provide all he could for her.

Surviving are: his wife, Terri; children: Dawn (James) Hall of TX, Ami (Jeff) Fitzgerald of Lennon, Marvin Sulen of New Lothrop; grandchildren: Andrew, Alexandria “Alex”, Austin, Connor, Tristan, Remington, Mia, Griffin and Mason; siblings: Richard (Charlotte) Sulen of Okemos, Janice (James) Ivey of Oakley, Leonette Wicke of Saginaw, Leon Sulen of Hale, his twin Marlene Walker of Dewitt, Margaret Hess of ID, Andrew Sulen Jr. of IN; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by: a daughter, Cami Sulen; and a sister, Janet Greketis.
