Marcus Lewis Sutter

SUTTER, Marcus Lewis Jr. – of Chesaning, died Monday, July 11, 2022, in Oklahoma City, OK. He was 90 years of age.

Marcus was born May 5, 1932, in Flint to the late Marcus L. and Rose Josephine (Coates) Sutter. He was a 1951 graduate of Our Lady of Perpetual Help High School. He served in the US Army from 1952 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict. He married Mary Catherine Wujkowski on July 18, 1959. Mr. Sutter retired from GM as a painter in 1999 with 25 years seniority and was a proud member of UAW Local #651. Marcus was a life member of the Knights of Columbus St. Christopher Council #2943 where he was a 4th degree Knight of Bishop Untener Assembly # 3136 and past Marshal of District #3. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #212 and an active member of St. Peter Catholic Church until moving to Oklahoma.

He is survived by: daughters: Margaret (Billy) Doyal of OK, Rosanne (Thomas) Wykes of VA, Catherine (Tony) Skeltis of WA, Natalie (Wade) Clark of OK; 11 grandchildren;  8 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann Kovacs of Fraser, MI; many beloved nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by Mary Catherine Sutter and sister Christine Schwind.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2022, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 404 S. Wood St. in Chesaning. Fr. Kevin Maksym officiating. Burial to follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be held on Sunday July 17, 2022, from 2-7 p.m. at the Misiuk Funeral Home in Chesaning and again on Monday at the church from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at 10 a.m. A memorial by the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus followed with a Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Contributions in his memory may be made to Knights of Columbus St. Christopher Council #2943 or the American Legion Post #212.
