Leslie Dawn (Benac) Wendling

WENDLING, Leslie Dawn – of Chesaning, died Friday, April 10, 2026, at University of Michigan Hospital-Sparrow in Lansing. She was 78 years of age.

Leslie was born December 8, 1947, in Alpena to the late Harold and Velma (Beauregard) Benac and was a resident of the Chesaning and New Lothrop areas since 1970. She was united in marriage to Dale Wendling on February 14, 1981. She was employed by the New Lothrop Area Public School for 40 years retiring in 2010. She liked her front porch under the shade of the tree and ladybugs. Words from Leslie- “She cutted and she weren’t cheap.”

She is survived by: husband, Dale; brothers and sisters in law: Roy Wendling of Chesaning, Doris Amman of Chesaning, Sandy Krizan of Baldwin, Kay Glover of Baldwin, Jean (Jerry) Hemgesberg of Chesaning, Joan (Gary) Gross of New Lothrop, and Anita (Charles) Keeler of Chesaning; many nieces and nephews.

No services are scheduled at this time. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the family to be divided between St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Memorial Healthcare Cancer Center.
