Larry Gross of Montrose passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Chesaning Comfort Care. He was 85 years of age.
Larry was born in Chesaning Twp. on April 5, 1941, a son of the late Duane and Lenora “Dot” (Cudney) Gross. Larry graduated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help High School in the Class of 1959. He was united in marriage to Joyce Yaklin at St. Michael Catholic Church of Maple Grove on June 22, 1963. Larry and Joyce have lived in Montrose since 1983.
Mr. Gross worked at General Motors for 39 years as a pipefitter, retiring in 1998. For a few years, he was self-employed and ran Gross Plumbing and Heating. He was a member of Mount Zion Catholic Pastoral Center in Flushing and St. Peter Parish Catholic Church in Chesaning. He was a member of the UAW Local 659 and a member and Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus, St. Christopher Council #2943. In his spare time, Larry enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce; their children, Amy Gross of Montrose and son, Paul (Kimberly) Gross of Chesaning; grandchildren, Kristen (Michael) Filthaut, Shelby Gross, and Andrew Gross, all of Chesaning; four great-grandchildren, Rosaleigh Filthaut, Michael Filthaut Jr., Everett Gross, and Marceline Humphry; sister, Roberta Henige of New Lothrop; brother, Glenn Gross of Williamsburg; sister-in-law, Sally Gross of Prudenville; nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dallas Gross; and two daughters, Mary and Ann Gross.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at St. Peter Parish Catholic Church, 404 South Wood Street, Chesaning. Fr. Thai Hung Nguyen will officiate. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Chesaning. Visitation will be 1-6 p.m. Monday at Misiuk Funeral home with a K. of C. Rosary Service at 6 p.m. and followed by a Vigil Service for the Deceased at 6:30 p.m. Visitation Tuesday at the Church will be from 10 a.m. until time of the Mass.
