HAFNER, Kenneth William – of Albee Twp, died Friday, November 15, 2019 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He was 86 years of age.
Ken was born to the late Alfred and Dorothy (Whalen) Hafner on January 13, 1933 in Albee Twp., on the family farm where he lived his entire life. He purchased the farm from the family upon the death of his father in 1953. Ken attended Ziegler School and graduated from Chesaning Union Schools in 1951. He was united in marriage to Barbara Corrin on November 10, 1956 in Owosso. Mr. Hafner owned and operated Chesaning Auto Parts/Hafner Service since 1949 and also farmed . He was a lifelong member of Albee St. Mary’s Church, Knights of Columbus St. Christopher Council #2943, the neighborhood card club and a former member of the Chesaning Chamber of Commerce. Ken had a love for anything automotive.
He is survived by: wife, Barbara; children: Pamela Hunt (significant other Scott Dowd) of Chesaning, Patrice (Terry) Rountree of Carrollton, TX, Michael (Tammy) Hafner, Timothy (Gloria) Hafner all of Chesaning; grandchildren: Jason, Travis, Hayden (Kim), Steven (Katie), Jarrrett (Maddie), Nicole, Alyssa, Tara and Jamison; great grandchildren: Peyton Hafner and Mallory Mihela; sisters: Elaine (Paul) Andres of Munger, Jane (Robert) Leachman of Carrolton; brother, Gerald (Jeanette) Hafner of Chesaning; nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was also preceded in death by: 2 infant daughters in 1959 and 1964; 2 grandsons, Aaron Hunt in 2006 and Kyle Rountree in 2009.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday November 19, 2019 at St. Mary’s Church in Albee, Fr. Robert Byrne celebrating. Burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Misiuk Funeral Home in Chesaning on Monday from 2-8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of mass at 11 a.m. A rosary will be prayed at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Monday by the Knights of Columbus.
