Obituary

HANEY, Kenneth S. “Cowboy” - Of Brant, age 67 passed away at Covenant Healthcare on Wednesday, June 14, 2023.

Ken was born on January 12, 1956, the son of Keith and Geraldine (Archambault) Haney. He graduated from Chesaning Union High School Class of 1974. Ken then went on to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1976-1980. After he was discharged, he began driving trucks for various companies.

Ken moved to Texas and worked on a prominent ranch for over 20 years. There he trained and cared for racehorses and tended to the entire farm. After retirement, he moved back to Michigan to be closer to family. Ken was wild and the center of attention at any gathering he could find. He was witty, funny, and always had a huge smile. Ken was a flirt and a ladies-man until his last hour. In his younger years he loved hunting, fishing, and barbecuing. Ken enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, drinking some beer, and spending time with his family. Most of all, he loved riding around, looking for deer, with his beloved dog, Shadow “poo butt”.

Surviving are: daughter, Krystal Haney; father, Keith Haney; siblings: Keith Allan Haney (companion Lydia), Timothy (Lisa) Haney, Penny (Mike) Griffith and Peggy Vogelaar (companion Mark Scherzer); nieces and nephews; Bradley (Jessica) Haney, Brent Haney, Bethany Haney, Tyler (Cassi) Haney, Shane (Catrina) Haney, Britney Haney, Curtis Griffith, Christopher (Tammy) Griffith, Katie (T.J.)
