Joseph Gross Obituary
GROSS, Joseph Daniel – of Chesaning, died Saturday, October 30, 2021. He was 73 years of age.
Joe was born October 24, 1948, in Owosso to the late Carl and Agnes (Wenzlick) Gross and was a resident of Chesaning his entire life. He was united in marriage to Sandra Phillips on June 25, 1971, and they had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Mr. Gross had been employed at Farmer Peets for 25 years, then Shields Manufacturing, then retired from Chesaning Union Schools. Joe had been a union steward during his employment at Farmer Peets, member of the Chesaning School Sports Boosters and the Chesaning Parks and Rec Little League. He loved to watch his kids and grandkids play sports, enjoyed playing cards, doing puzzles, and listening to baseball on the radio. He was a big U of M fan.
Surviving are: wife, Sandy; sons: Brian (Stephanie) Gross of Oakley, Tim Gross of Aurora, CO, Daryl (Abby) Gross of Chesaning, David Gross (companion Krista) of Oakley; grandchildren: Taylor, Ty and Sophia; siblings: Carol DeShazo of SC, Bill Gross of Chesaning, Dorothy (Tom) Wendling of Chesaning, Janice (Kurt) Wille, Kathy (Phil) Larner; brother-in-law Denny Weisenberger of Chesaning; mother-in-law Florence Phillips of Chesaning; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives. He was also preceded in death by: a brother, Melvin Gross; sister, Ruth Weisenberger; brother-in law, Ray DeShazo; sisters-in-law, Joyce Gross and Pat Gross; and father-in-law, Asahel Phillips.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. No services are planned at this time. Charitable donations given in memory of Joe can be made to the Chesaning Sports Boosters, P.O. Box 95, Chesaning MI 48616. You may light a memorial candle or share a condolence at misiukfuneralhome.com.
