Jerry Harber Obituary

HARBER, Jerry Wayne, of Clio, passed away Thursday, January 18th, 2024. He was born December 30th, 1946 to Charles “Bill” & Jeanette (Smith) Harber in Rose Hill, Virginia. After graduating high school in Michigan, Jerry served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. After completing his service, Jerry returned to Michigan where he met his wife of 46 years, Jean Barrett. By profession, Jerry was a highly skilled master mechanic, but for those who knew him, his love of learning made him an endless source of information. He was naturally curious and liked to stay busy, often picking up new hobbies and mastering them before moving on to something new. Jerry was a natural conversationalist with an appreciation for a good joke as well as friendly debates. Though his parents moved away from Rose Hill when he was a teenager, he never lost his love for the area, purchasing property there in the 1980s. Both his children and his grandchildren have many fond memories of spending time at “the farm.” After his retirement, Jerry was able to fulfill his dream of building a house there, using his craftsmanship skills to complete most of it on his own. While poor health prevented him from living there full-time, it remained his favorite place to go whenever he was able. He will be remembered for his love of shakes, and the most frequent words of wisdom given to his family: Watch for snakes. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; his parents, Bill Harber & Jeanette Bock; his sister, Pam; and his brother, Randy. He is survived by his sister, Kathy Martin, and her husband, Jay; his daughter, Jennifer Crawford, and her husband, Brian; his son, Jeremy Harber, and his wife, Kari; his grandchildren John, Amanda, Elizabeth, Dylan, Levi, and Kadyn; and his great-grandchildren Jenny, Donnie, and Johnny.
