James W. Tullar Jr. Obituary

TULLAR, James W. Jr. – of Chesaning, died Saturday, June 6, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is now in the loving arms of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was 64 years of age.

He was born March 8, 1956 to the late James Sr. and Yvonne (Roy) Tullar. Jim graduated from Chesaning High School  in 1974. He married the love of his life, Christine (Barancik) Tithof and their love for each other would light up any room. They enjoyed traveling, Harley bike trips and going to many music concerts. Jim also enjoyed euchre parties with his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, hunting, fishing and riding his bike with his “Brothers of the Hammer” Harley Club. He was a proud member of this club for 20 years. Jim had a Master’s Degree in engineering and was a tool and die maker at GM NAETC in Flint. He was a member of the UAW Local #659. He was also a licensed barber. Jim loved volunteering for the Old Newsboys of Flint for many years. This organization meant a lot to Jim and what it does each year for children in need. Jim was very proud of his hometown of Chesaning. He was a walking encyclopedia of the history of his town. He could tell you  a story about anything and everything that pertained to Chesaning. Jim was a great storyteller. He was very interesting to listen to, such a joy to be around and definitely lived life to its fullest.

Those very sadly mourning his death are his wife, Christine; his daughter, Brittanie (Alex) Navarro of Chicago; brother, Timothy (Debra) Tullar of Evart; sister, Colette (James) Dodak; granddaughter, Lennon Navarro; three nieces, Miranda Dodak (Mike Hafner), Shay Tullar of Evart and Nicole Palethorpe of Owosso; a great-nephew Dustin Palethorpe; two stepchildren, Sarah Tithof of CA and Andrew (Mary) Tithof of Bay City, four step-grandchildren, Liam, Riley, Andie and Peter; father-in-law, Matthew Barancik; many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins and friends who will miss Jim beyond words. He was preceded in death by his mother, Yvonne, in 2004 and his father, James Sr., in 2012.

A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. outside of the Back 40 Grill at M-52 and M-57 in Chesaning. The Brothers of the Hammer Harley Club will take Jim for a final ride through his beloved town of Chesaning at noon on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, please consider The Old Newsboys of Flint.
