James M. Weisenberger Obituary

WEISENBERGER, James M. “Jim” – age 69, of Owosso, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday June 14, 2026.

Jim was born on August 3rd, 1956, in Saginaw to Clarence “Jim” and Josie (Bila) Weisenberger. He graduated from Chesaning Union High School in 1974 after attending Our Lady Parochial School. Following graduation, he worked at Century Telephone Company as a lineman. In 1979 he purchased his own farm and became a full-time farmer, following in his father’s footsteps. Jim married Mary Ann Bueche of Chesaning in 1981 and they had three children together. He continued to farm alongside his beloved wife until his passing.

Jim played basketball all through high school and went on to play basketball and baseball city league alongside his friends. Sharing his love of sports, he could often be found shooting hoops in the front drive or playing baseball in the backyard with his kids throughout their childhood. He also coached his son’s youth basketball team. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and planned charity bike runs in Oakley and at the Shiawassee Conservation Club. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Durand. Throughout life, Jim enjoyed going to his cabin, camping, swimming, hunting and fishing with his family. He continued to share those passions with his grandkids, along with his love of ice cream and homemade popcorn. He could regularly be found cheering on his grandkids at their various interests including sports and plays, even traveling around the country to support them. He enjoyed taking his wife or whole family out to eat to celebrate any occasion, or none at all. In the winter he could be found cutting wood to keep the bonfire going in the summer. Bonfires are a pastime Jim frequently enjoyed especially when his whole family gathered around it with him, which was often. Jim’s zest for life, spontaneity, sense of humor, unwavering encouragement and massive bonfires will be greatly missed.

Jim is survived by: his wife, Mary Ann; children: Theresa and Ryan Kneale, Joel Weisenberger, and Ashley and Craig Cassidy; grandchildren: Hank and Beverly Kneale, and Tucker and Kai Cassidy; and his dog, Tigg, whom he took everywhere. He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Gloria Pumford; in-laws Art and Donna Bueche; brother-in-law Rick Bueche; and a granddaughter Jane Kneale.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. You may light a memorial candle or share a memory at misiukfuneralhome.com.
