James L. Wood of Clio died Wednesday evening, May 15, 2024, at the Chesaning Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chesaning. He was 73 years of age.
James was born in Detroit on September 30, 1950, a son of the late Aubrey E. and Norma L. (James) Wood. James traveled a lot but lived most of his life in the Clio area. He was united in marriage to Donna Marie Michalowicz on March 7, 1969. She preceded him in death on August 27, 2013.
James was a Registered Nurse. He had worked at several hospitals and the most recent being Beaumont Hospital in Troy. He enjoyed traveling and going to estate sales and yard sales. He loved to collect antiques and vintage toys, especially those with a Star Wars theme.
James was known to always have a joke or funny story for any occasion. His favorite story was when he was younger and working as a butcher. He had a customer that wanted his lunch meat sliced so thin that one could almost read a newspaper through it. The customer would always emphasize his desire for thinly sliced meat. When James retold the story, he would always use his funny voice to mimic the customer’s words, “Thin! Thin! Thin!”
James is survived by his children, Ginny Foster of Waren, Chelsea (Keith) Smith of Clio, Mickey Wood of Flint, and Tracy Ross of Arizona; several grandchildren; a great-grandson; his siblings, Vickie, Terry, and Ray; many nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Donna; and a brother, Bill.
A gathering for family and friends to celebrate James’ life is being planned and will be announced later. You may light a memorial candle or share a memory at misiukfuneralhome.com.
