James L. Barror Obituary

BARROR, James L. – of Brant Twp., died Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at his home surrounded with the love of his family. He was 86 years of age.

Jim was born January 28, 1937, to the late Frances A. and Mary Anna (Noyes) Barror. Jim was a resident of the Chesaning area most of his life. He graduated from Chesaning Union High School in the Class of 1957. He proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, between the years 1963-1965. He was united in marriage to Harriett E. Baase on January 22, 1972, at Brady Wesleyan Church. They were married for over 49 years before she preceded him in death on April 20, 2021. Mr. Barror retired from Farmer Peets in 1995 and then with his wife, they owned their own carpet business. They sold and installed carpeting for several years.

Jim was a very active member of Oakley Community Church. He was a member of the Lions Club and was a volunteer for the Chesaning Showboat for many years. He also participated in the Hot Air Balloon Launch in Brant for several years. He was an avid hunter, and enjoyed camping, fishing, and woodworking. He always took the time to spend with family and friends, especially attending his grandchildren’s various activities. He took pride in his yard work and having the perfect lawn. Occasionally, he would have some scrimmages during his “Battles with the Ground Moles”. Jim was also a self-taught carpenter whose motto was, “you do not need to measure twice, just cut.” More than once he had to buy more wood to repair his mistakes.

Surviving are his children, Cindy Bates of Burt, Debra Langworthy of Montrose, Shelly (Nicholas) Leonard of Brant, Becky (Douglas) Cooper of Chesaning, Paul  Barror of Wolverine, Frances “Jamie” (Kathy) Barror of Saginaw, and Tonya (Troy) Devereaux of Chesaning; 14 grandchildren, Leeann, Sara, Larry, Stacy, Jennifer, Jeremy, Christopher, Chelsea, Amanda, Jamie, Brandon, Brittany, Matthew, and Aubree; many great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; his siblings,  Sharon, Carol, Dale, Donald, Edward, Mary Ann, and Minnie; many nieces and nephews; and devoted family friends, David Braeutigan and Irma Badgero.  He was also preceded in death by stillborn infant children, Linda and Michael; and siblings, William, Gerald, Lorraine, and Arnold.
