Jack Adkins

ADKINS, Jack – of Montrose, MI, formerly of Delphos, OH, died Saturday, April 25, 2020 at his daughter’s residence. He was 87 years of age.

Jack was born October 30, 1932 in East Lynn, WV to the late Elba and Laurabelle (Findley) Adkins. He was a resident of Delphos, OH most of his life moving to Montrose in 2018. He was united in marriage to Sherry Elliott on January 31, 1965. She preceded him in death on December 14, 2018. Jack served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Fruehauf Corporation in 1991 with 30 years seniority. He and Sherry had attended the United Presbyterian Church in Delphos, OH. Mr. Adkins was a member of the Teamsters Local and the Delphos Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #471. He enjoyed being outdoors and mowing the lawn.

Surviving are: daughters, Joyce Nestor of SC, Deb (Ken) Ackerman of Montrose, MI; daughter-in-law, Susan Adkins of Norwalk, OH; 5 grandchildren: Josh Adkins of Norwalk, OH, Katie (Mark) Moreland of Pioneer, OH, Kenny Ackerman of New Lothrop, MI, Breanna Adkins of Portsmouth, OH, Kevin (Gina) Ackerman of Birch Run, MI; several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Louise Schuart of Dunnellon, FL; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by: 3 sons, Larry Adkins, Jack Adkins Jr. and Charles Ray Adkins; 5 brothers and sisters.
