Helen L. Walker Obituary
Helen L. Walker of Chesaning passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at her home. She was 90 years of age.
Helen was born in Louisiana on June 26, 1930, the daughter of Robert L. and Inez (Morgan) LaFleur. She graduated from Oakdale High School in Louisiana. She was united in marriage to Stewart Walker in 1947. He preceded her in death on November 3, 1993.
Mrs. Walker has been a long-time resident of Chesaning. She was a member of St. Peter Parish Catholic Church and the C.A.E.R. Center. Helen enjoyed reading, gardening, and walking around town.
She is survived by her children, Annette “Jo” Barry Meiser of Brady Twp., Rodney (Susan) Walker of Clare, Deb (Ed) Maxa of Burt, Rose Mary Szappan of Chesaning, Margaret (Gary) Spegel of Menominee, Jon (Suzie) Walker of Roscommon, Robert Walker of Chesaning, and Jeremy (Cara) Walker of Ferndale; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rose Hayes of Oakdale, LA. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Walker in 2015; two granddaughters, Rebecca Gates in 2015 and Michelle Spegel in 2011; two great-grandsons, Tyler Meiser in 2013 and Jacob Mester in 2018; a great-granddaughter, Megan Richardson in 2019; brothers, Arthur LaFleur and Raymond LaFleur; and sisters, Jeannette Williamson, Juanita Stobie, and Lucile Tate.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter Parish Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2021. Burial will follow at Ridge Road Cemetery in Brady Twp. Visitation Sunday will be from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Misiuk Funeral Home with a Parish Rosary being prayed at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation Monday will be at the church from 10:00 am until time of the Funeral Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, the Alzheimer’s Association, or a charity of one’s choice.
Following Covid-19 guidelines, masks must be worn, and social distancing practiced at the funeral home and at the church. Currently funeral homes are limited to 25 people.
