BAKER, Guy W. – of Chesaning, formerly of Gaylord, died Thursday, October 30, 2025. He was 87 years of age.
Guy was born October 6, 1938 in Maple Rapids, MI to the late Dart Dale and Marian Anna (Hicks) Baker. He served in the US Air Force from February 6, 1957 to June 7, 1960. He was united in marriage to Emmajean Stafford on December 1, 1973. Guy wore many hats in his lifetime. He was a tree farmer, licensed real estate broker, builder, owned Bakers Hardwood Shop and did title research. He retired 20 years ago but continued with his hobbies: genealogy, coin collecting, building furniture, panning for gold, identifying trees and enjoyed learning languages such as German, French, Spanish, Polish and Turkish. His favorite was keeping in touch with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Parish, Knights of Columbus St. Christopher Council #2943 and the Otsego Conservation District.
Surviving are: his wife who lost her best friend, Emmajean; children: Tamara (Keith) Scott of TX, Jenna (Jim) Patterson of Lansing, Mary (Steven) Schmidt of Byron; grandchildren: Kenneth (LaRay) Westervelt, Andrew (Jenna) Westervelt, Melissa Scott, Chad Scott, Kristin (Nathan) Lilly, Devin Nault (companion Ashia Wroblak), Patrick Boza, and Brian Boza; 8 great grandchildren; siblings: Robin (Faye) Baker, O. Jeffrey (Mary Ann) Baker, Bonnie Henry; sister-in-law, Barbara Baker; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a sister and 2 brothers: Alan Baker, Linda Taylor and Mitchel Baker; and a brother-in-law Charles Henry.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am Friday, November 7, 2025, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Chesaning. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10 am until time of Mass at 11 am.
