Grace M. (Bessinger) Richmond

RICHMOND, Grace M.  – of Chesaning, died Saturday, December 18, 2021 in Ft. Myers, FL.  She was 84 years of age.

Grace was born February 6, 1937 in  Augres, MI to the late  Edward and Ruth (Widmayer) Bessinger. She was united in marriage to Gerald Richmond on August 1, 1959. He preceded her in death on September 28, 2020. She graduated from Central Michigan University with a BS in education and got her first teaching job in Chesaning.  Grace was a Home-Economics teacher and retired after 30 years from Chesaning High School. She was the FHA (FCCLA) director at CHS for many years. Grace was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, sewing, needle crafting, puzzles and reading.

Surviving are: children: Terri Lummie, Scott Richmond and Wendy Sokhanvari; grandchildren: Trisha, Katherine, Scott Jr.,  Elizabeth, David and Abby; sibling: Carol Vanloo; also a step daughter and 10 great grandchildren. She was  preceded in death by: son, Todd in 1964; granddaughters, Jessica Richmond in 2018 and Emma  Sokhanvari in 2021; and sibling Roger Bessinger in 2014.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday December 28, 2021 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Chesaning. Pastor Janine Plum officiating. Burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Misiuk Funeral Home in Chesaning on Monday from 2-6 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Contributions in her memory may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.
