Gerrie K. Davis of Hemlock passed away early Saturday morning, September 18, 2021, at Covenant Medical Center Harrison with family at her side. She was 77 years of age.
Gerrie was born in Saginaw on February 2, 1944, a daughter of the late Clifford L. and Arlene B. (Collins) Allen. Gerrie graduated from Chesaning Union High School in the Class of 1962. She graduated later from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics. Gerrie was united in marriage to Dale L. Gross on July 9, 1966. He preceded her in death on August 23, 1978. Later, she was united in marriage to James H. Davis II in Las Vegas, NV on June 16, 1980.
Gerrie was retired but enjoyed working as a substitute teacher for the Hemlock Public School District in the High School. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Chesaning. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and gardening, and was a Master Gardener. She was a 4 H Leader, former member of the Saginaw Second Presbyterian Church and served as a Deacon there, member of the MSU Extension Services and member of quilting bees, “Gone to Pieces” and “Saginaw Piecemaker Quilt Guild.” She loved spending time with Jim and family in their summer house in Petoskey. Her gardens in Petoskey were so spectacular that she was given the honor of having the “Best Drive by Home Garden in Petoskey” by the Petoskey Garden Club.
Gerrie is survived by her beloved husband, Jim; her loving children, Keith (Glenda) Gross of Hemlock and Hollie (Rob) Park of Sterling Heights; her adored grandchildren, Trevor, Parker, and Dillon; her sister, Nancy Fife of Scottsdale, AZ; Dale’s brothers and sisters and their families; special lifetime friends including the YaYa family, especially Andy, Anne, and Vickie; many nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Dale Gross; and a brother-in-law, Richard Fife.
Her memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1629 W. Brady Road (M-57), Chesaning. Rev. Janine Plum will officiate. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of the memorial service. Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity United Methodist Church.
