BRENDAHL, Gerhardt Christian “Gus” – of St. Charles Twp., passed away peacefully in his sleep Monday, October 23, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was 92 years of age.
Gus was born November 22, 1930, to the late Benjamin and Clara (Rau) Brendahl on the farm in St Charles and lived there his entire life. He served as a specialist in the US Army as a helicopter mechanic. He was united in marriage to Mamie Witbeck on January 2, 1960. He worked at the family farm, McDonald Dairy, and retired from the St Charles Post Office as a Rural Carrier. Gus was a devout member of Zion Lutheran Church of Chesaning. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and baking.
Surviving are: wife, Mamie L. Brendahl; children: Annette E. Wilkins, Kaye (Peter) Riley, Arthea Brendahl (fiancé Curt Wendling), Christina (Daniel) Lorenz; grandchildren: Jessica Wilkens, Benjamin Wilkens, Rebecca Wilkens, Lauren Riley, Raymond Riley, William Riley, Carolynn (Shane) Patton, Valorie (Matthew) Gulick, Josephine Pollick, and Jonathan Pollick, 6 great grandchildren; sister, Gerda M. Brendahl; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church in Chesaning. Pastor Paul Tessmer officiating. Burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. You may light a memorial candle or share a condolence at misiukfuneralhome.com.
