On Thursday, June 23, 2022, Jerry Hafner went home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ. Jerry was 93 years old. He passed away at Pleasant View in Caledonia Twp.
Gerald was born in Oakley on July 12, 1928, a son of Alfred and Dorothy (Whalen) Hafner. Jerry was a longtime resident of Albee Township. He was united in marriage to Jeannette E. Baker on March 6, 1970. They were married for over 49 years before she preceded him in death on November 24, 2019.
Jerry had worked at GM for nine years before changing jobs and working at Midland-Ross in Owosso as a Metal Model Maker. He had worked at Midland-Ross for 18 years before retiring in 1980. Later, he owned the Prairie Saloon and the Prairie Party Store. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed spending time in his workshop creating toys, tables and such. He was very skillful with his hands.
Jerry is survived by his sons, Rodney (Betty) Hafner of Chesaning and Ed (Maggie) Hafner of Ovid; stepdaughter, Janet Mullins of Kentucky; grandchildren, Rodney Hafner, Andrew Hafner, Jason (Jennifer) Coon, Johnny Coon, Luke (Natasha) Coon, Joseph Hafner, Corrie T. Hafner, and Shane Hafner; a great-grandson, Jase Hafner; sisters, Elaine (Paul) Andres of Munger and Jane (Robert) Leachman of Carrolton; sister-in-law, Barbara Hafner of Albee Twp., and nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by daughters, Cindy (Phil) Cross and Kim Billings, who died in 2018; and a brother, Kenneth Hafner, who died on November 15, 2019.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. No services have been planned. You may light a memorial candle or share a memory at misiukfuneralhome.com.
