Obituary
KUKULIS, Ernest M. – formerly of Chesaning, died Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at The Oaks of Byron Center. He was 84 years of age.
Ernie was born December 14, 1938, in Saginaw to the late Frank and Mary (Krizan) Kukulis. He was united in marriage to Barbara Hornak on April 22, 1961. He retired from Spence Brother’s after many years of employment. Ernie was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. He enjoyed being with the family, hunting, fishing, farming, gardening, playing cards, and can’t leave without bickering with Barb.
Surviving are: children: Kathy Haney, Chuck Kukulis and Doug Kukulis, all of the Grand Rapids area; grandchildren: Krystal Haney, Steven (Megan) Kukulis, Kelsey Kukulis and Kassandra Kukulis; 1 great grandchild Gavin Kukulis; brother, Jerry Kukulis; sister, Joan Rieder; nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by: wife, Barbara Kukulis; daughter-in-law Julie Kukulis; and sisters, Virginia Gosselin and Lillian Hedrich.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Misiuk Funeral Home in Chesaning. Pastor Paul Tessmer officiating. Burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Contributions in his memory may be made to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church or his family.
