Erich L. Stark

STARK, Erich L. – of Harrison, formerly of Chesaning, MI died Wednesday December 25, 2019 at Medilodge of Montrose. He was 78 years of age.

Erich was born January 9, 1941 in Springer Twp., OK and raised by the late Leonard and Clara (Grueber) Stark. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Bates on August 12, 1961. They resided in Chesaning until his retirement when they moved to Higgins Lake for 25 years. They then moved to Harrison in 2019. Erich retired from Buick in 1993 with 30 years seniority. He  was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Houghton Lake and the UAW Local #599. His greatest love was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Erich loved his horses and acquired his first horse at the age of 15 and was proud to have trained his horse to walk on its hind feet. He also enjoyed camping, boating and fishing with his great grandchildren.

Surviving are: his wife, Mary Ann of Harrison; daughter, Novenda (Thomas Jr.) Shindorf of Chesaning; grandchildren: Erich Shindorf, Kerissa (John) Hertzer, Heather (Victor)Thornton; 6 great grandchildren; brother, David (Linda) Harris of TN; nieces and nephews; and those families who had a part of raising him: Jewell and Hank Wagner, Harvey and Emma Mossner all of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by: a son, Ralph Stark in 1969, and a sister, Barbara Harris.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Misiuk Funeral Home, 202 S. Front St. in Chesaning. Pastor Paul Kruse officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Private inurnment will be in Wildwood Cemetery.  Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place.
