Feuerstein, Elizabeth Ann (Lennon)-Age 96, died at home on December 24, 2020, surrounded by family.
Elizabeth (Lib) was born September 2, 1924 in Lennon, Michigan, the daughter of Peter B. & Louise (McGraw) Lennon. The Lennon farm homestead (acquired in 1853) is where she was born and raised; the farm is still in the family. She graduated from Mary Grove College in Detroit with a BA in Education, and began teaching in the Detroit Public Schools. Later, she taught in the Buena Vista School District for 17 years. Elizabeth married Edward Feuerstein on July 1, 1950 at Saint Roberts Church in Flushing. Lib and Ed raised six children and were married for 59 years. Both were active members of St. Christopher Church (Bridgeport) and St. Michael's Church (Maple Grove). Elizabeth was very involved in the Legion of Mary, enjoyed Square Dancing, and hosting family get-togethers. As a devoted parishioner of St. Michael's, she was an active participant in the choir and a daily Mass cantor. After retirement, she attended daily Mass and then would often be seen at the Junction Restaurant, with Ed, sharing the love of Christ with others. She enjoyed visiting her many friends in the community, sharing family updates and especially looked forward to her Friday breakfasts with the ladies at the Chesaning Showboat Restaurant. Her hobbies included reading, caring for her many flower gardens, china and tole painting. She was very dedicated to her daily scripture reading, praying the rosary, and to loving her family. She never forgot your birthday and always sent a card to celebrate. Lib was proud of her Irish heritage. She loved turning the coffee green on St. Patrick’s Day, and the house was adorned with shamrocks. She was a big fan of Notre Dame as her father was an alumnus. “Cheer Cheer for Old Notre Dame!”
Surviving her are children, Patricia Feuerstein of Chesaning, Gerard (Elaine) Feuerstein of Lansing, Chris (Cynthia) Feuerstein, of St. John, IN, Ann (James) Schmelzer of Saginaw, Paul (Kathleen) Feuerstein of Newtown Square, PA, and Son-in-law; William Sheehan of Naperville, IL, 7 grandchildren, Annette Titler, Theresa Neri, Deborah Van Hal, Sara Murray, Andrew Feuerstein, Margaret & Kathleen Sheehan, and 6 great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband Edward (2009), her daughter Mary Sheehan (2020), her parents, 4 sisters; Mary Catherine Lennon, Margaret Race, Mary Grace Frawley, and Elaine Bur. She will especially be remembered for the ardent interest she took in others. She listened and committed to memory what you shared, and prayed for you often. Lib had a huge heart for so many. Lib’s children will miss her greatly but are rejoicing that she is with the Lord. The family is very appreciative of the love shown by her wonderful caregivers, devoted friends, and her saintly neighbor to the east.
