Edward Joseph List Obituary
LIST, Edward Joseph – age 84, passed away peacefully in his home on June 15, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Edward and his wife, Sally, were happily married for 61 years, building a beautiful life together in Chesaning. Edward had a wide variety of passions, including photography of his children and grandchildren’s’ events, reading history and war stories, watching sports and going on family vacations. He was an avid builder of model planes and army tanks, and had a deep appreciation for classic vehicles, especially his black 1964 Comet Cyclone. Nothing brought him more joy than fishing. He loved teaching three generations of his family how to cast a line, leaving them all with long lasting memories of their time together on the water.
In his professional life, Edward served his community as a police officer for the City of Saginaw. He then transitioned to General Motors as plant security until his retirement in 2008. Retirement allowed Edward to fully dedicate his time to what mattered most: celebrating life with his family, fishing, and making people smile. He will always be remembered for his kind spirit, infectious laugh, and the practical jokes he loved to play.
Edward is survived by: his beloved wife, Sally (Sadilek), whom he married in June 1965; three children: Edward Jr. (Ann) List, David (Donna) List, and Sheryl (Mark) Ervin; eight grandchildren: Joshua (Kayla) List, Slade List, Samantha (Ronald) Dankert, Aubrey (Michael) Bennett, Courtney List (AJ Compton), Evan List (Avery Butcher), Madeline Ervin (Tyler Doucette), and Harrison (Alessandra) Ervin; five great-grandchildren and another blessed addition on the way; and sister-in-law, Patricia Schroeder of Chesaning. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Alice List, and his parents-in-law, Charles and Rose Sadilek; brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and Elaine Sadilek; and brother-in-law, Arthur Schroeder.
Services will be held at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 133 Commercial St. in Chesaning, Pastor Paul Tessmer officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 3:00 pm until time of services at 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edwards’s memory to the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Chesaning.
