WALSER, Edward A. – of Oakley died Thursday, December 14, 2023, at his home. He was 78 years old.
Edward was born in Owosso on August 21, 1945, a son of the late Bernard and Sophie (Lacina) Walser. Ed was a lifetime resident of the Oakley area. He was a US Army Veteran, receiving his Honorable Discharge after serving in Vietnam. Ed was united in marriage to Joan M. Devereaux on June 30, 1976. He had worked at Buick for 31½ years, retiring in 1996, and was a member of UAW Local 599.
Ed is survived by his loving children, Barry (Deb) Walser of Hale, Kristin (Randy) Weersma of North Port, FL, Dana (Mike) Bates of Chesaning, and Doug (Threasa) Walser of Rochester; ten grandchildren, Justin McDougall, Levi McDougall, Megan Walser, Alexis Weersma, Mitchell Bates, Abby Bates, Trevor Walser, Matt Bates, Jordan and Julia Walser; a great-grandson, Carter; his siblings, Dick (Elsie) Walser, Dave (Ora Anne) Walser, Gloria Bates, Joe (Mary Lou) Walser, Tom (Pat) Walser, John (Linda) Walser, Janice Thurston, and Jim (Patty) Walser; several nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan Walser on November 11, 2014; a stepsister, Ann Bishop; and brothers-in-law, Frank Bates and Mike Thurston.
