Edward Leonard Balamucki - entered his heavenly home on January 4, 2026. He was living at Wellspring Assisted Living where he resided with his wife, Violet for eight years.
Their loving relationship began over eighty years ago when they met while working at the Miller Farm raspberry patch. He was born on May 22, 1929, in Lennon, Michigan to Ignacy and Eleanora (Gorecki) Balamucki. He was preceded in death by his four siblings: Mitchell Balamucki, Stella Kozlowski, Cassy Balamucki, and Wanda Pappenheimer. Edward married Violet Hafner at St. Mary’s Church of Albee on November 29, 1952. Edward moved to the Chesaning area when he was eleven years old. He was a 1947 graduate of Chesaning High School. While in school, he was a member of the FFA and Student Council and earned letters in football, basketball, and baseball. After high school, Ed worked at Buick in Flint until he joined the US Air Force in 1950. He married Violet in 1952, and they spent their newlywed years in Bermuda and Texas where he was stationed. After being discharged, Ed worked for Wickes Corporation in the maintenance department and as a Department Manager. Ed was an accomplished millwright and a man of many skills who enjoyed building and repairing things - he could fix anything. Ed’s hobby was woodworking. He built cabinets and furniture for many family members and friends throughout the years. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed many hunting trips with his son, Jim. Ed was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Christopher Council #2943 and an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Albee serving as lector and Parish Council President. He was always ready to step up and serve his community. Ed was Albee Township Supervisor from 1980-1984. Ed and Violet, his wife of 73 years, loved to dance and were members of the Chesaning and New Lothrop square dancers’ clubs. They enjoyed traveling, visiting all fifty states, and the countries of South Korea, Poland, Germany, and Eastern Europe. They shared a happy retirement, spending winters at Palm Gardens in Mesa, Arizona. During Edward and Violet’s years at Wellspring, they enjoyed nightly games with each other and family members. These moments will be especially missed.
Edward is survived by his wife, Violet, and his children, Laurie (Carl) Birchmeier of Saginaw, Richard (Cindy) Balamucki of North Carolina, James (Peggy) Balamucki of Traverse City, Linda Adams of Petoskey, Brenda (Doug) Gordon of Muskegon, Barbara (Dave) McCormick of West Olive, daughter in law, Susan Hollobaugh.
