Donald D. Smith Obituary
SMITH, Donald D. – of Maple Grove Twp., died Sunday, April 20, 2025 at Welcome Home Assisted Living in Owosso. He was 86 years of age.
Don was born September 18, 1938, in Midland, MI a son of Wilber and Aletha (Harshman) Smith. He was a resident of Midland most of his life moving to Maple Grove Twp. in 2007. He served in the US Air Force. Don married Ethel Parks on July 22, 1995. Mr. Smith was employed by Safeway as a butcher than changed and was employed at Meijer’s as a butcher for 20 years. He was a member of Owosso First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed square dancing, playing old timer baseball, and was an avid Detroit sports fan.
Surviving are: wife, Ethel; children: Dawn (George) Prokop of Midland, Terri (John) Mendyk of Midland, Shane (Jay) Smith of KY, Shanon (Jerelyn) Smith of Midland, Jeffrey (Linda) Bowen of Owosso, Debra (Rick) Bowen of Owosso, Gregory (Desiree) Bowen of FL, Randall (Tammy) Bowen of Owosso, Stephanie Hart of Owosso; 24 grandchildren; many great and great great grandchildren; sister, Marjorie (John) Lang of FL; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Wilber and Althea Smith; step father, George Rider; and a brother, Jerry Smith.
Memorial services will be held at 11am Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Misiuk Funeral Home in Chesaning. Rev. Bill Moull officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10am until time of services at 11am. Inurnment will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date.
