Dennis Ray Cruce

CRUCE, Dennis Ray – of Brant Twp., died Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Saginaw Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center in Saginaw. He was 73 years of age.

Dennis was born January 24, 1951, in Concord, MI to the late Rev John and Verda (Schenck) Cruce. He was a resident of Chesaning for the past 25 years. He was a 1970 graduate of St. Charles High School. Mr. Cruce retired from GM with 35 years seniority. He was a member of Racy Free Methodist Church and the UAW. He was a self-proclaimed bottle catcher-he picked up bottles and cans wherever he found them. He fixed and repaired items and then gave them to Volunteers of America and Habitat for Humanity. He volunteered for Hidden Harvest and other community services. He enjoyed sports and used to coach youth baseball, football, floor hockey and basketball.

Surviving are: sons, Michael (Melissa) Cruce of Shields and Scott Alan (Jenny) Cruce of Eaton Rapids; grandchildren: Jacob Cruce, Megan Cuce, Katie Cruce, Elizabeth Cruce and Gabriel Cruce; siblings: Tom (Kelly) Cruce of Webberville, Jim (Denise) Cruce of Lebanon, PA, Gary (Pat) Cruce of Hastings, Melody (Steve) Cook of Saginaw; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. A sister, Ruth Ann, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 1p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Racy Free Methodist Church, 19983 W. Brady Rd., Elsie, MI, Rev. John James officiating. Burial to follow in Brant Twp. Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 11a.m. until time of services at 1p.m. Contributions in his memory may be made to CAER Center Pantry or Manna from Heaven at Trinity United Methodist Church.
