Daniel Kenworthy Obituary
KENWORTHY, Daniel J. – of Lapeer, died Saturday, August 1, 2026. He was 76 years of age.
Dan was born August 28, 1949, in Flint to the late Roy and Illa (Meir) Kenworthy. He was a graduate of Bentley High School and earned his Mechanical Engineering degree from General Motors Institute (now Kettering University). He worked as an Engineer at General Motors for 42 years. He married Diana Sanders, his devoted wife and lifelong companion. Together, they built a beautiful life and were eagerly anticipating the celebration of their 57th wedding anniversary on August 8. They made their home in Lapeer, where they enjoyed raising their three sons. Dan enjoyed hunting, being on the lake and spending time in Las Vegas playing in poker tournaments. Dan was a mechanical wizard who could fix, build, or improve just about anything. Friends and family often relied on his knowledge and willingness to lend a helping hand.
Surviving are: wife, Diana; children: Matthew (Sherry) Kenworthy of Goodrich, Mark (Milissa) Kenworthy of Flint, and Kevin (Ashlee) Kenworthy of Berkley; 11 grandchildren: Ethan, Ella, Emerson, Emeric, Katherine, Jacob, Lucas, Meagen, Brady, Miles, and Reese; siblings: Mary Ann (Gene) Romel of E. Lansing, Dale (Alice) Kenworthy of Huntington, IN, Robert (Anita) Kenworthy of Clio, Diane (Jim) Williams of S. Lyon, James Kenworthy of Arizona; uncles: George (Yvonne) Kenworthy of West Branch, Jim Kenworthy of Kennewick, WA; many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Gathering in Dan’s honor will be held on Friday, August 28th from 5:00-7:00PM at the Davison American Legion Hall (10309 Davison Rd, Davison, MI 48423). Please join his family, friends, and neighbors to enjoy some food, drinks, desserts and share your stories and memories. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to one’s local humane society. You may light a memorial candle or share a memory at misiukfuneralhome.com.
